News from HLB International: New Tax Convention between Slovenia and Japan
The Republic of Slovenia and Japan intend to introduce the Convention on the avoidance of double taxation with respect to income taxes without creating opportunities for non-payment of taxes or reducing them for tax evasion. The Convention contains many provisions that deviate from the OECD Model Convention. In addition, a new method of taxing company profits was used, which most Slovenian firms have not yet complied with.
Although the Convention has not yet entered into force, it will be correct if taxpayers familiarize themselves with its provisions in advance and, if necessary, adjust the activities of their business in accordance with it.
